ABOUT MARISKA
Only a few years ago Amsterdam-based artist and designer Mariska Meijers decided to quit corporate life to pursue her artistic dream.
With no formal art or design education she kicked off her new career with a solo exhibition in Singapore in October 2005. Since than she has gained experience with many exhibitions around the Globe.
Meijers' art is widely loved. Her contemporary still lifes and interiors are an eclectic mix of object and patterns. Her bold and sassy colour combinations give her work a distinctive style.
Meijers follows her instinct, not theory when painting. “I stir a cocktail of objects, patterns and colours in my thoughts which I translate straight on to my canvas. Accuracy is never achieved in my paintings and rarely even attempted. In stead I keep a free interpretation of the objects through emphasis on colour and pattern."
In addition to her fine art pieces Meijers launched her first stationary lines in 2008 through Bekking&Blitz publishers (www.museumwinkel.net), available at major department stores, book, gift and museum shops throughout The Netherlands & Belgium, with further distribution abroad in 2009/2010. One of the lines is the popular culinary card series "Appetizing Art", a line she created in conjunction with culinary author/journalist Lise Goeman Borgesius, combining Meijers' illustrations with Goeman Borgesius' recipies.
Meijers' first designer pillow line launched May 2009. New collections are created eacht year and recently trays hand made in Scandinavia out of birchwood have been added.
Her work has so far been featured in the following publications: ELLE (Singapore), Glamour (Netherlands & Latin America), Time Out (Mumbai), Viva (Netherlands), Elegance (Netherlands), Home & Decor (Singapore), Expat Magazine (Singapore), Vriendin (Netherlands, ELLE ETEN (Netherlands), Nouveau (Netherlands), Ariadne at Home (Netherlands), Hindustan Times (India), Residence (Netherlands), Joie de Vivre (Netherlands), Metro (India), ESTA (Netherlands), Wining&Dining (Netherlands), Mid Day (India), GOOD FOOD (Netherlands), DM Magazine (Belgium), "Kunst & Antiek Journaal" (Netherlands), Ambition (Netherlands), Libelle (Belgium), Finder (Singapore), Home&Living (Netherlands), BBC News, Stijlvol Wonen (Belgium), Dutch Television (KRO & SBS6).

Meijers also takes on private and corporate commissions.
“Some of my best pieces result from private and corporate commissions. I like it when clients come to me with an idea and the challenge to deliver work that captures the idea of the client without compromising my own style. I see commissions as a creative pact between the client and myself.”
Meijers has co-operated with various companies and organisations, including BNP Parisbas, ABN AMRO, ING private banking, The Financial Times, Asia, Sofitel/Accor Groupe, the Nobelprizewinners' charity fund Childright,The French Embassy in The Netherlands, Staalbankiers, GMG group (publishers of Gouden Woonboek, Miljonair), Renault, Okura Hotel, celebrity chef Joop Braakhekke, Paul Fagel Arsenaal Restaurants, Topshops, ARTSTART, Artotheek Singer Museum, three Michelin star chef Jonnie Boer and Therese Boer.
